Settling into Nursery

We operate an open-door policy, so you are welcome to visit the nursery at a time that suits you. During your initial visit, we offer a guided show-around, giving you the opportunity to explore our setting, learn about our daily routines, activities, and learning opportunities, and meet our friendly team. This visit also provides time to ask any questions, helping you make an informed decision about whether we are the right fit for you and your child.

For your child’s first settling-in session, we invite you to stay and support them as they explore their new environment and begin to build a relationship with their key worker—while still having the reassurance of a familiar face nearby. As your child grows in confidence, you will be able to leave them for short periods, gradually preparing them for full sessions at nursery.

These settling-in sessions allow our staff to get to know your child as an individual. We will also ask you to complete an “All About Me” booklet to help us understand your child’s routines, interests, and preferences. This process supports a smooth transition and helps us build a strong partnership with you and your family.

Once your child feels confident and comfortable separating from parents or carers, we can fully begin their journey with us at Thatto Heath Playdays.
